The purpose of this book is to provide a single undergraduate textbook that covers the ecology and management of freshwater ecosystems (i.e., rivers and standing wetlands, perennial and temporary waters and groundwaters) in Australia. The book will update an earlier, highly successful version (Boulton Table of contents) and includes real-world examples in sidebar text boxes provided by freshwater ecologists and managers working in ecosystems around Australia. This provides an overview of research presently underway and recent research outcomes as well as providing points of interest and focus for undergraduate readers.
