Water plays an important part in today' s environmental concerns. As conflicts over water use become more frequent interdisciplinary studies will increase. This book provides a common language for improving communication between researchers, biologists, environmental engineers and others managing or studying riverine environments. The book summarises stream classification, stream rehabilitation and methods for determining instream flow requirements. Since the publication of the first edition there have been rapid developments in the area of stream rehabilitation and the setting of environmental flows. The new edition will be fully updated to include these topics and a new Windows based set of revised programmes of the computer package AQUAPAK will be available.
