There is an increasing need for students and professionals in a wide range of disciplines to learn the value of well-conceived and well-executed experiments; they need to understand the ways in which information can be properly extracted from the resulting data and clearly communicated and acted upon. This book is aimed at meeting these needs at an advanced undergraduate or early graduate level, from a range of different subject backgrounds. The proposed text includes material on basic statistics, such as data-plotting, estimation, confidence intervals, and significance testing, and so could be used for an introductory statistics course, as well as an introductory course on experimental design.  With a good foundation in basic statistics in simple situations, the student should be able to understand how those fundamentals can be applied in more complex situations. The author adopts an accessible and approachable style throughout, leading the reader through a range of experimental design decisions, encouraging independent thought and clear communication of design decisions and experimental outcomes.
