The potential benefit of social value for architecture across the globe will be defined, with contributions sought from Europe, the US and Australia. There will be a particular emphasis on the UK where the issue has become live across the devolved authorities, post Grenfell in anticipation of the departure from the EU. Beginning with a focus on generating social value in the work of some significant architectural practices, the emphasis will move on to the mapping and measurement of social value. This AD will give a critical overview of tools for demonstrating and mapping social value, the different kinds of tools available and case studies where they have been put into use. Its contribution will be in bringing together contributions from across a diffuse and complex area of knowledge into an accessible format for use by practitioners and academics across the built environment sector.
